QA/QC Manager at Honey Brook

Reports: Executive Director, Projects Management & Coordination

Job purpose: 

The purpose of the QA/QC Manager is to develop, plan, implement, review and update the Quality Management Plans, procedures and policies of the Group.

In addition, this role will be primarily responsible for the review of client’s quality requirements across projects to ensure that requirements are fully understood and implemented to meet contract specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Head, Strategic Business Development to Prepare, Manage and ensure quality Prequalification, Technical and Commercial Tenders.
  • Document all Project activities utilizing approved procedures in line with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008 Standard and applicable statutory regulations.
  • Specify the necessary Quality related activities to sub-contractors and vendors to ensure that required overall level of Quality and safety on the project are maintained
  • Sustain the required quality level so as to continually meet contract requirements.
  • Justify the confidence placed on them by management by ensuring the intended quality is not only attained but sustained.
  • Ensure the company ability to sustain desired quality level at every stage of the contract is not disgraced when exposed to the audit.
  • Establishment, evaluation, implementation and verification of the Quality Assurance and Quality Control systems.
  • Establishment, preparation and review of the Project Quality Plan (PQP).
  • Preparation and control of Internal and External Quality Audit and Quality Finding Report.
  • Review of quality requirements of procurement specification and material requisition.
  • Review and approval of Inspection & Test Plan (ITP)/ assignment of inspection point and performing the inspection and test for inspection point assigned.
  • Performance of receiving, in-process and final inspection.
  • Issue and control of Non-Conformance Report (NCR) and Corrective Action Request (CAR).
  • Reporting quality problems and quality control status to the Project Manager.
  • Check and patrol whether the latest design documents are used at work or not, distribution and status control of the Project Quality Plan (PQP)
  • Check, monitor and evaluate the use of applicable codes, standards and specifications in the design documents
  • Review and approval of inspection procedure.
  • Subcontractor/Vendor surveillance.
  • Check for control activities of measuring and test equipment possessed by the Site Manager.
  • Supervision whether calibration and control of measuring and test equipment are performed in accordance with this PQP.
  • Identification of conditions adverse to quality and request for corrective action to responsible organization.
  • Verify whether corrective action is taken or not.
  • Control of Corrective Action Request (CAR) status.
  • Establishment of schedule for quality audit.
  • Assignment of auditors and approval of audit plan.
  • Approval of audit report.
  • Verification of corrective action results for audit findings.
  • Reporting audit results to the management.
  • Follow-up of audit participation results.
  • Execution of training for personnel on project when training for quality assurance system is requested from other teams.

Experience & Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum number of years of experience required (7 – 10 years)
  • Should be well experienced in Welding and/or Coating QA/QC, NDT methodologies
  • Should have practical and verifiable experience in developing QMPs, ITPs, CARs and NCRs
  • Should demonstrate both theoretical and practical experience in Document Control and Quality Audits

Qualification:

  • A degree or diploma in any engineering discipline or equivalent complemented with training in the domain of ISO 9001 / Internal Auditing.
  • Must have API and/or CSWIP and/or NACE Certifications
  • Having the IRCA Lead Quality Auditor Certification is an added advantage

Skill:

  • Must be well organized and demonstrate good attention to detail.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work under extreme pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
  • Must be task oriented with ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Able to use computer hardware and software including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Proficient in the use of internet for research.

Working conditions

  • This job will require special working conditions, including but not limited to:
  • Regular working hours of 8am to 4.30pm with 30mins break in-between.
  • Working late evening and weekend work is rare but not forbidden when duty calls.
  • Working outdoors and also in offshore locations is part of the schedule when duty demands
  • Working with challenging clients cannot be avoided
