Senior Project Manager (Abuja) at Confidential

About the Role:


The Senior Project Manager will represent core real estate management capability within retain primary responsibility for driving project planning and execution on a day-to-day, task-oriented basis. S/he will also be responsible for defining and implementing the urban management framework and environmental management plan.


The person will also anchor the process of planning and project management for the projects.This will ensure the integrity of the master plan is maintained and, by proactively interfacing with the Development function, will ensure that market needs are planned for, the master plan retains relevance and that the environmental aspects of the site are enhanced. The individual will also be responsible for defining the terms of reference for, and operation of, the management company and its various committees (including with respect to services to be rendered and the service charge regime).

The role will entail planning, budgeting and overseeing the urban and environmental management aspects of the company but will extend to other Nigerian projects at the appropriate time. The role will ensure the scope and direction of each project are on schedule, taking into account the impact of these projects on the environment, identifying problem areas and recommending and executing solutions. The role is also responsible for ensuring specific government regulations regarding air, water and soil standards are met that the ongoing maintenance, service charge and management of the projects are catered for.

 

Job Description:

  • Drive liaison with planners, engineering design team and other external consultants liaising with the management teams of each project to ensure milestones are met on time and within budget;
  • Achieving operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements and implementing change;
  • Ensuring detailed planning and project management according to specified budgets and timelines;
  • Ensuring the integrity of the master plan is maintained and that market needs are planned for, the master plan retains relevance and that the environmental aspects of the site are enhanced;
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulations and requirements on urban and environmental matters through acting as the liaison officer;
  • Developing regulations and policies for urban development , in line with government regulations and tailored to the individual projects;
  • Developing and maintaining a suitable network in the area of urban development to keep abreast of the latest developments and issues;
  • Advising the Company on potential urban and other hazards as required;
  • Managing contract costs as well as the tender and procurement policies of the Projects;
  • Monitoring contractors and sub-contractors to ensure guidelines are maintained and work is carried out according to plan;
  • Using international best practice in all matters relating to urban and environmental aspects of the Projects;
  • Any other related duties and responsibilities as required by the Country Head, Nigeria.

 

Skills/Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning, Building Sciences, Engineering or other relevant Natural Science degree.
  • Project Management qualification is an added advantage
  • Core project execution experience
  • 7 - 10 years of relevant professional experience in Project Management, covering urban sector development issues, or related area as well as project administration for large projects
  • Sound knowledge of Nigerian (and, preferably, Abuja/FCT) urban development legislation
