Human Resources Generalist at TRC Companies

TRC Companies, Inc. Human Resources Generalist

This position will report to the Sector HR Business Partner. Primary responsibilities will include transactional HR department responsibilities as well as be consultative in nature and focus on advising managers on employee relations, HR programs, policies and procedures, training & development and compensation, and other related HR responsibilities and duties.  



  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Psychology or related discipline.
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
  • 5 – 7 years of related HR Generalist experience, and progressively responsible HR positions in a professional services environment.


  • Strong customer service, communication (written, verbal, and presentation), collaboration, influencing, facilitation, and decision making skills.
  • Strong employee relations capabilities.
  • Experience in project and program management.
  • Must have excellent listening skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently under conditions of multiple deadlines and changing priorities to produce a large volume of high-quality materials with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Position requires the ability to work autonomously and to collaborate fully as a team player.
  • Flexibility to travel, average 20%


Key Responsibilities:

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures; interprets and advises on HR policies and procedures and recommends changes to current processes or practice.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Advises on company performance appraisal program. Trains managers on performance appraisal process or use of system. Reports on usage and trends and works to improve delivery to employees.
  • Advises on benefits as necessary and referring complex issues to the Benefits Department. Acts as employee advocate as necessary to aid in resolving issue. Presents open enrollment presentations as necessary and responds to employee questions.
  • Acts as an advocate for diversity within the Oil & Gas Sector. Responds to requests for EEO reporting for clients and government entities as required.
  • Acts as a partner with Recruiting and HR Operations to seamlessly process the candidate through the hiring process and onboarding. Assures necessary information and processes are followed to support a great experience for the candidate and operations.
  • Handles and investigates employee relations matters by documenting incidences and advising managers on process and next steps.
  • Completes exit interview process on all voluntary and involuntary terminations. Items include exit interviews, coordinating final pay, close out meeting with employee and manager.
  • Participates in HR or other operational meetings as needed.
  • Participates in HR projects and implements HR programs and processes as needed to engage the Sector and support them in understanding the reasons, benefits, and requirements of changes/programs.
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
