Head, Recruitment & Talent Management at Jumia

The Head, Recruitment & Talent Management designs and implements talent management strategies and programs to recruit and retain talent and develop the workforce to accomplish Jumia’s strategic goals and objectives. The Manager oversees the life cycle of employment for all employees from the initial acquisition through on-boarding, performance management, professional development and off-boarding.  

 

Qualification:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Law, Psychology or any relevant field from a recognised and accredited University
  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience and results in the field of leadership development and organization effectiveness
  • Past experience with implementation of integrated talent management practices including talent reviews and performance management processes
  • Demonstrated results utilizing assessment instruments/surveys to improve leadership effectiveness (e.g. 360), team effectiveness and organization effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated results facilitating change management activities including organization culture change 
  • Prior internal consulting skills required, external consulting skills a plus.
  • CIPM, CIPD, HRCI Certification is a plus. 

 

Skills/Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power point) tools and Google Office Productivity Tools.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively to senior executives
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work to deadlines and targets, prioritize tasks  under pressure
  • Ability to proactively initiate and manage projects aimed at managing the talents and tackling performance related issues.
  • Aptitude in recruiting senior executive and managers including competent interviewing skills and working knowledge of online selection materials
  • Ability to maximize use of social media as a recruitment tool
  • Broad network base and ability to manage same in sourcing for top level executives within a given time frame

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directs the development of staffing strategies and workforce planning.
  • Guides and consults with leaders and HR business partners to develop talent and succession plans, leads organizational talent review process, career paths and development plans for high potential. 
  • Provides consultation to leaders and executive recruitment in sourcing high potential internal talent.
  • Acts as a coach to assigned leaders and/or manages external coaching assignments. 
  • May coordinate or deliver 360 evaluations, analyze assessment tools, and assist in targeted development planning.
  • Acts as a thought partner on strategy and planning of Jumia’s talent agenda.
  • Provide corporate leaders with support, communication, training and coordination of talent programs (i.e. associate engagement, performance development, goal planning, OTRs, career pathing, development planning). 
  • Develop and implement successful recruitment strategies and campaigns to recruit both internal and external candidates.
  • Develops recruitment metrics with the management team that drives optimal staffing performance. 
  • Directs internal and external recruitment and placement activities and relationship building with businesses, government and community service agencies, colleges, employment agencies, and search firms.
  • Collaborates with senior management to identify and develop key talent and serves as an advisor and subject matter expert on organizational and team development, talent management and culture enhancement.
  • Develops and maintains strong competency models and ensures strong linkage of talent management programs to overall business initiatives and human resources programs.
